Adele has admitted that she ‘feels bad’ about her radical weight loss, but said that whilst some fans feel ‘abandoned’ by her, it’s not her job to ‘validate how people feel about their bodies’.

The 33-year-old singer, who recently sold out two dates in Hyde Park next year in a matter of minutes, has been training hard in the gym and dropped around seven stone in weight of late.

The star has also spoken out about how she used the fitness regime to help out with her anxiety following her split from husband Simon Konecki.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in a wide-ranging TV interview, the London-born musician said that she never meant to make anyone feel bad, but whilst many have praised her efforts, others have expressed their disappointment.

It’s a strange thing to do, to be fair. It’s ultimately up to Adele what she does with her body.

She told Winfrey that some fans have felt ‘upset’ and ‘abandoned’ by her, and explained her own feelings on the matter.

Adele said: “I’m not shocked or even fazed by it because my body has been objectified my entire career. I’m either too big or too small; I’m either hot or I’m not.”

For her part, the Easy On Me singer said that she is just focusing on herself, which seems reasonable enough.

She continued: “I was body positive then and I’m body positive now.

“It’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies.

“I feel bad that it’s made anyone feel horrible about themselves – but that’s not my job. I’m trying to sort my own life out. I can’t add another worry.”

Adele went on to talk about the anxiety that she felt after the breakdown of her marriage and how she dealt with that by changing her habits and concentrating on health.

She said: “I had the most terrifying anxiety attacks after I left my marriage.

“They paralysed me completely and made me so confused because I wouldn’t be able to have any control over my body.

“I had such trust [with her trainer]. And when I worked with him, I had less anxiety. I wasn’t even bothered by my weight but by doing that, it helped me with a lot of things,

“I’d have a set schedule like a 9am workout and 1pm hike. It gave me good discipline.”
