American luxury brand Cadillac wants to build a hypercar to take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG One.
General Motors design chief Michael Simcoe revealed this during an interaction with the media. “Could we build a hypercar? Yes. Would we like to build one? Yes. Are we building one? That would be giving too much away,” Simcoe said.

Cadillac has been in talks with the FIA to enter Formula 1 with Andretti Global. When asked if this would prompt the brand to consider developing a road-going hypercar, the design boss responded affirmatively. He even went on to state that a Cadillac hypercar would have a combustion engine, as opposed to being pure-electric.
There has been a trend among Formula 1 teams to develop road-legal hypercars. Mercedes introduced the AMG One, which uses a Formula 1-derived 1.6-litre V6 petrol hybrid powertrain, while Red Bull will debut its RB17 hypercar later this year.
