A woman who married a much younger fella after meeting him on Facebook has warned people to be wary of ‘scammers and con-artists’ on dating websites after the pair sensationally called it quits
An 83-year-old gran who tied the knot with a much younger lad has dished out a stark warning about “scammers and con-artists” on dating sites.
Iris Jones became a media sensation after she met Egyptian native Mohamed Ibrahim on Facebook back in June 2019. She quickly flew over to Cairo, Egypt, to meet her beau and the pair got hitched the following year.
Iris even dished the dirt on their bedroom antics on This Morning in 2021, dividing viewers’ opinions. However, last year saw Iris give Mohamed the boot, saying she’d “swapped him for a cat” and branding him “evil” and like a “sewer rat”.

The split came after Iris, from Weston-super-Mare, revealed she had cleared her ex-partner’s debts and handed over wads of cash. Now, Iris is on a mission to open the eyes of those swiping right, convinced she was played like a “puppet master”.
Taking to Facebook, Iris said: “A warning to all vulnerable women online, chatting to scammers and con-artists, thinking they are messaging genuine males on legitimate dating sites. Be aware that they are only interested in getting their filthy paws on your money and will sweet-talk you for weeks, or even months in order to achieve their goals.”
Iris claims she’s become a pro at sniffing out fraudsters after being targeted by four scammers in recent months, dubbing herself a “competent scam hunter”. She revealed one particularly “evil” scammer tried to swindle her out of a hefty sum.
She said: “You picked the wrong woman this time, because I make it my business to expose scammers such as you. I have really enjoyed being the puppet master, having you dance my tune.”
Previously, Iris claimed her ex-lover nicked £25,000 after moving into her “chicken shack” bungalow and conned her into sending an additional £14,000 while he was still in Egypt before their nuptials. She also claimed that Mohamed had pressured her to change her will to make him the beneficiary of her house.
In her statement, she said: “The man I married tried his damndest to alienate me from my family in order to make me change my will, but we are a very close family and they have supported me throughout, ever since I became victim to this vile and evil nonentity.”
Earlier this year, Iris announced her intention to sever all ties with the man who went from “the perfect Prince Charming in Egypt” to “the Prince of Darkness.”
