The 2024 model sees no significant changes from last year’s successful redesign, which included a slightly longer wheelbase for increased rear seat legroom and cargo space. It still offers over 39 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the rear seats, making it one of the most accommodating small SUVs for luggage and bulky items. What’s New for 2024?
The 2024 Honda CR-V introduces a new Sport-L Hybrid trim, bridging the gap between the Sport and Sport Touring trims. This addition enhances the lineup with premium features like leather seats, a 9-inch infotainment system, a wireless charging pad, a memory driver’s seat, and front/rear parking sensors. Driving the CR-V, we found its beautifully tuned suspension to offer a comfortable yet precise experience. Unlike previous models, this iteration of the CR-V is notably responsive and engaging, making the driver feel completely in control while maintaining excellent outward visibility. With its 190-horsepower engine, the CR-V excels in various driving situations, offering ample power without sacrificing efficiency.

The 2024 Honda CR-V begins at $29,500, while the hybrid models, offering enhanced efficiency and power, start at $33,350. Competitors such as the Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-50, Subaru Forester, and Nissan Rogue all have starting prices in the mid-to-high 20K region. Although the 9-inch infotainment display in the top EX-L trim may seem small compared to competitors’ 12-inch screens, it offers practicality with physical volume controls.

Specifications
Turbocharging technology has advanced to impressive levels, balancing increased power output with respectable fuel efficiency. However, it often necessitates the use of premium gasoline, as recommended by Honda for the CR-V’s turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. This engine delivers 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, with power transmitted to the front wheels through an automatic transmission in standard form, while all-wheel drive is available as an option. Although its maximum tow rating of 1,500 pounds may be considered modest, compact SUVs are seldom used for towing purposes.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine produces 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 179 lb-ft of torque at 1,700-5,000 rpm, offering respectable performance. In terms of fuel efficiency, the EPA rates the CR-V at 30 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 29 mpg combined with all-wheel drive for the 2023 model year, aligning with industry standards.
In terms of safety, the latest generation of the CR-V has already earned the highest accolade from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), achieving the Top Safety Pick+ rating.
Warranty coverage for the CR-V includes a basic new-vehicle warranty lasting three years or 36,000 miles, along with a powertrain warranty extending to five years or 60,000 miles, both of which are standard for the class.
