Despite claims that there are no good cheap new cars left, the 2024 Nissan Versa challenges this notion as the least expensive new car in the U.S. Despite its low price, it offers more than just basic transportation, boasting features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, wireless phone charging, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. With rivals like the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio discontinued, the Versa’s primary competitor is the less desirable Mitsubishi Mirage. Remaining unchanged from the previous year’s exterior styling refresh, the 2024 Nissan Versa retains its position as one of the most affordable new cars on the market, with a comprehensive list of features and impressive fuel efficiency. However, it’s worth noting that the Versa comes standard with a manual transmission, requiring drivers to opt for a stick shift to achieve the lowest possible price.

The Nissan Versa undergoes no changes for the 2024 model year except for an enhancement to the NissanConnect Services, now providing a 3-year trial instead of the previous 6-month trial. Furthermore, the Convenience package is no longer an option for SV trims. This iteration belongs to the third generation of the Versa introduced in 2020.

Starting at $16,130, the 2024 Nissan Versa holds the title of the most affordable new car on the market. It’s worth mentioning that this price applies to the base model with a manual transmission. For those preferring an automatic transmission, prices start at a still-reasonable $17,800. Opting for the base model, we suggest considering the S+ package, which includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 60/40 split-fold rear seat, and aluminum alloy wheels. It’s important to note that this package isn’t compatible with manual transmission models.

Versa S manual transmission$16,130
Versa S CVT$17,800
Versa SV$19,420
Versa SR$20,140

Nissan maximized space in the compact Versa, providing ample front legroom with its “zero gravity” seats. However, rear legroom is limited. The trunk offers 14.7 cubic feet in S trims and 15 cubic feet in SV and SR grades. Rear seats that fold down are only available with the S Plus package, standard on higher trims.

Material quality varies by trim, with SR models featuring leather-wrapped steering wheels and nicer fabric upholstery.

Infotainment systems range from a 7-inch touchscreen in S and SV trims to an 8-inch unit in the SR. The SR also adds heated front seats and automatic climate control.

For Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, opt for the S Plus package.

In recent years, the Versa underwent a significant transformation, resembling a smaller version of the Altima.

With pleasing proportions and updated styling, including a refreshed front end, it presents an attractive design.

Despite its compact classification, measuring 177 inches in length, it offers ample space.
