“Actual game changer”: Anyone starting Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree should pay heed to this tip

This one piece of advice will make the experience of every Elden Ring player much easier.

Elden Ring is the pinnacle of the Soulslike genre and the journey to reach a game of that caliber was quite long. The gaming community was enamored by the amount of effort and care the developers poured into the making of this game and the results were glorious.

FromSoftware CEO and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki is proud of the legacy he built and is not stopping or slowing down anytime soon. The developers recently released a massive expansion that is on par with the base game and added an extra cool and useful feature.

This New Feature Is a Game Changer for the Elden Ring Expansion

Resource management can be a pain in massive Soulsborne games like Elden Ring.

The developers understood the impact of the base game and wanted to deliver an expansion that is worthy of living up to the success of Elden Ring and did more than that by adding new options for combat and playstyle. It is expected for expansions to have improvements but the developers went above and beyond with this one by also including a new tab for recently picked items.

Unfortunately, the developers will have to make the players work for it since it is not enabled by default. The Land of Shadow is said to be equal to the already massive map of the base game and Miyazaki wanted to encourage the gaming community to explore and make their journey unique by taking unconventional paths.

Every twist and turn will most likely have powerful enemies for the players to face and vanquish. Winning may feel rewarding but nothing compares to fresh loot with higher quality which can be a hassle to sort through. Fortunately, the new recent items tab will make it easier for players to manage their resources.

Shadow of the Erdtree Needs to Meet Expectations and Honor the Base Game

The gaming community cannot contain the hype for the Elden Ring expansion.

FromSoftware was all in for this massive expansion since it is the only one planned for the base game and director Hidetaka Miyazaki stands by that decision. The director wanted the players to have a swift and seamless transition which is a noble gesture and fans should expect the entire kitchen sink of omitted content to make a return.

Sorting through items and loot can take away from the experience and break the momentum. This new tab for recently picked items can save the players a lot of time from segregating and discarding specific loot and will not ruin the immersion any further.

Dividing these items to categories will make it much easier and convenient for players to find what they are looking for. Not everyone may realize or appreciate this kind gesture but it is a game changer for the hardcore Soulsborne players.

Perhaps the developers will carry over this feature to future projects and the gaming community will bicker less about the shortcomings of the game. FromSoftware has single-handedly pioneered the Soulslike genre and after years of experience, the company knows what is best for its games.
