Adele is first and foremost a songwriter and therefore, it comes as no surprise that she writes most of her own songs.

Adele attended the BRIT School of Performing Arts and originally wanted to go into artists and repertoire (A&R), which is scouting for talent and overseeing the artistic development of artists for record labels.

Can Adele play any instruments?

Adele has played the guitar since her teens, when she would spend most of her time in Brockwell Park in London playing the guitar and singing to her mates.

Adele can also play the piano, but reportedly, not very well. So those beautiful backing tracks to compliment her voice in songs such as ‘Hometown Glory’ are probably played by somebody else.

Likewise, Adele played the drums for the track ‘Hello,’ but she doesn’t play them expertly.

Does Adele write songs for other artists?

Yes. Adele has written songs for and collaborated with other artists such as Sia, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Beyonce, and likewise, other artists have written songs for her.

Apparently her song ‘All I Ask’ from 25 was whipped up between her and Bruno Mars in 48 hours.

She wrote Sia’s hit track ‘Alive’ from her 2016 album This Is Acting.
