Elden Ring fans, you can start downloading Shadow Of The Erdtree early: Ready to be played

FromSoftware and Elden Ring fans can rest easy, we now know exactly when to expect preloads for the upcoming expansion Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree to go live so that it’ll be ready to be played by launch.

Fans will be able to pre-load Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree starting on June 19, meaning that it’ll be ready to be played the second the game launches on June 21. The news was revealed by the leak account PlayStation Game Size, who tends to share updates using information from the back-end of PlayStation Store and data that is available to people who have access to that storefront. That same leaker has reliably leaked information from previous PlayStation releases, so it’s likely that this is accurate, and players will be able to download the DLC in just under two weeks.

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree was revealed last year, on the first anniversary of the original game releasing (25 February 2022 was when the title released). The very first trailer for the expansion, however, didn’t release until around three months ago, showing three minutes of exactly what to expect from the DLC. As per recent previews, the expansion will run for around 30-40 hours, and will weigh in at a mere 16.5GB on PS5, which is actually bigger than the base game file size for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which was 12.5GB. Even after all the patches and bug fixes the latter title released, and the extra content that was added, it still only came in at around 18GB on PlayStation, meaning that a full game size adventure will be contained in something even smaller than the final file size for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a game that notably never received any DLC and never received any type of expansion.
