Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is Making a Change Fans Have Been Asking For Since Launch

Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is all set to bring a few changes that were requested a lot by the community, which include a heavily requested tweak in the background of the Bandai Namco logo as well as an identifier for new items in inventory. While fans have been curious to know more about the Land of Shadows and what new challenges it will bring, it seems like FromSoftware has a number of quality-of-life changes planned for the upcoming Elden Ring expansion.

Soulsborne DLCs always have a lot of hype surrounding them, considering the impressive base games and FromSoft’s DLC track record. For instance, many players in the community consider the Ashes of Ariandel and Ringed City DLCs to be better than the base game for Dark Souls 3. As the release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC draws closer, the hype around it has grown exponentially. Only time will tell if the DLC will be better than the base game, but at the very least it will be bringing some interesting changes along with it.

FromSoftware reveals the total boss count for Shadow of the Erdtree, suggesting Elden Ring’s first and only expansion will be quite content-packed.

As highlighted in an X post by user IronPineapple_, FromSoftware is all set to bring a much-requested feature as part of the next update. When the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC arrives, players will have a different color background for the Bandai Namco splash screen. While it is not mentioned what it would be, it will most likely be black, which would significantly alleviate the issues players had reservations about. Previously, the white screen was criticized for blinding players and being far too bright.

Shadow of The Erdtree Could Make Inventory Management A Breeze

That’s not all, as another notable quality-of-life change being made will see a unique identifier being added for new items in inventories. Items that have recently been added to players’ inventories will also have a dot on their icons, which is another change that many in the community are quite elated to hear about. Initially, this might seem like a subtle adjustment that will quickly be ignored by many. However, considering how quickly inventories can become cluttered in the game, thanks to a slew of great items Elden Ring has to offer, accessing recently acquired items becoming a breeze is ubdoubtedly a win.

The same goes for the splash screen. Though it only impacts gamers for a couple of seconds, the white background of the Bandai Namco logo feels extremely out of place with the rest of the color palette of the game, and players end up getting flash-banged out of nowhere. The fact that FromSoftware has addressed even minor Elden Ring requests from the community is something that many appreciate.
