Future compact and large Cadillac Coupe models join IQ series in our CGI dreams

Believe it or not, Cadillac’s best-selling model wasn’t the Escalade, XT6, XT5, or XT4. Instead – primarily thanks to China and about 20% owed to the North American performance, the brand’s CT5 sedan took the laurels in 2023.

At home in America, sales of Cadillac vehicles were up by 9%, the best total figure since 2019. The company had the best sales of the Lyriq model since launch, Escalade deliveries were up by 4%, and there was also a record year for the CT5 sedan – up 17%. As such, it is no wonder that GM allowed Cadillac to refresh the mid-size ICE sedan for the 2025 model year while the compact CT4 had to stay put and wait its turn – or maybe face the axe if it doesn’t continue to post record retail sales in 2024.

Anyway, it’s pretty clear that the appetite for Cadillac’s passenger cars is insatiable – especially when it comes to sporty models. More precisely, the company also announced that its V Series division and the Blackwing models also had a record year – up 55% compared to 2022. Of course, there’s now an Escalade-V in the mix, but the Blackwings are exclusively sedans.

Maybe there’s an explanation as to why buyers are flocking to Cadillac’s luxury sedans. First and foremost, there are fewer competing options by the day – Ford or Lincoln isn’t selling any sedan models, and Stellantis just ceased production of the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 late last year. Secondly, these Cadillacs mix luxury with high-performance driving pleasure, especially in the case of the V8-powered Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.

As such, maybe it would be logical to further push the pedal in the sport passenger car field, according to the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm – and he recently envisioned a couple of feisty Cadillac coupes. Alas, since Caddy is focusing its entire attention on the IQ series, these two also join the roster composed in the real world by the Lyriq and Celestiq, plus the upcoming Escalade IQ, Optiq, and Vistiq.

After all, Cadillac has already shown it is not afraid to stand out in a crowd with the Celestiq five-door fastback saloon – so maybe a couple of coupes for the compact and large segments are also welcome into the family. Well, at least the one dwelling across imagination land, that is. As such, these are merely wishful thinking design projects and should be treated with care, so do take them with a pinch of salt as nothing is official from Cadillac.

However, the question is simple. Would you like to see a massive IQ all-electric family boasting these two coupes, the Celestiq flagship, as well as the Optiq, Lyriq, Vistiq, and Escalade IQ crossovers and SUVs?
