The star taking on the role of Scarlet Witch was embarrassed when filming action scenes in the Marvel superhero series on set, without any special effects.
In a cover story with Variety, Elizabeth Olsen used the word “silly” to describe the reality on set when filming fight and magic scenes. She said: “I always wish Marvel would release the movie without CGI effects. Then the audience would understand how ridiculous the filming was.”
The actress said she was very shy when she had to imagine and perform magic shooting movements from her fingertips in a public setting. Many movie scenes that required seriousness and even emotion made her unable to stop laughing and blushing with embarrassment. For example, the scene where Vision (played by Paul Bettany) dies in the arms of Scarlet Witch, in the blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War.
She explained: “It’s embarrassing to film something like that. The world depends on what we do. We try to improvise smoothly with the direction of the Russo brothers. I just remember myself.” I laughed continuously at the end of the scene, because I saw Josh Brolin (who plays the villain Thanos) wearing a helmet for special effects work. Even though the scene was silly, we had to try to make everything effective.

Behind the scenes of Elizabeth Olsen’s un-effects scenes in Marvel movies
Previously, Elizabeth Olsen expressed her wish for her costumes in Marvel movies to be designed more discreetly. She liked corsets but wanted them not to be too late. Over the years, her role has often been the sexiest among Marvel’s female superheroes. Looking at her co-stars, the beauty felt like she was the only one showing skin in the Marvel Universe.
In addition, the actress is somewhat dissatisfied with Marvel’s contract terms. Signing long-term with the company prevented her from accepting other projects, especially independent art films. She worries that she will lose diversity in her acting.
