THE funeral for Onthatile Chuene, daughter of Limpopo’s controversial rapper Shebeshxt, is scheduled for Saturday, 22 June in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo.
The nine-year-old tragically died in a car accident on 8 June en route to Lebowakgomo with her parents, Shebeshxt and Kholofelo Moloto.
The rapper sustained severe injuries, and Kholofelo suffered moderate injuries.
Family spokesman Lot Ramusi told Daily Sun they hope Shebeshxt will be able to attend his daughter’s funeral.
He said the musician is out of ICU and currently recovering in a general ward.
“He was in ICU for about five days. He’s out of ICU and much better. We’re waiting for the doctors’ confirmation so that they can make arrangements for him to attend the funeral,” Ramusi said.
He also clarified that the rapper didn’t lose his leg in the accident, as previously reported.
“His foot is intact now. He had dislocations. On one leg they put steel in and fitted a moon boot. The leg is OK. He can step with both legs,” he said.
He said this has been a traumatic experience for the family.
“We’re concentrating on burying the child this weekend. Shebe is taken care of by the doctors, the most important thing right now is to give Kholofelo, the mother of Shebe’s child, as much support as possible and to bury the child with dignity.
“You can imagine how difficult things are for her. Out of everyone, she is the one that is being forgotten with regards to support, but the family is making sure she gets as much support as possible. This is a big loss for her. I pray she gets strength to get out of this situation,” he said.
Ramusi said although he had never spoken to Shebeshxt about his daughter’s passing, he was aware she had not survived the accident.
“We want him to recover and deal with it after the funeral.”
