Majority of Elden Ring players will be unable to play Shadow Of The Erdtree, what is the fix?

The first and only DLC for Elden Ring comes out later this month and many players are thrilled to be heading back into Fromsoftware’s worlds for new forms of punishment and plenty of lore.

However, a lot of players will be unable to access Shadow of the Erdtree leaving them stuck in The Lands Between.

Shadow of the Erdtree is the only DLC Elden Ring will receive

In order to enter the new DLC area, one distant and separate from the world of the main game, players need to defeat one of the game’s bosses first.

The boss in question is Mohg. Once Mohg is defeated players have access to his castle where you can find a cocoon holding another character called Miquella. Interacting with this cocoon will transport you to the land of shadow and the start of the DLC.

According to Steam achievement stats, only 37.8% of Elden Ring players have beaten Mohg and will be able to access the cocoon and the DLC.

The player count is even lower on PlayStation where we can easily track the percentage by looking at our unlocked trophies. Currently, only 34.7% of PlayStation players will be able to access Shadow of the Erdtree.

What this means is that a lot of players have some work to do before the launch date of 21 June. If you’re one of the many who are yet to vanquish Mohg, you’ve got a handful of days to level up and take him on.

Remember this, you only have to defeat Mohg, you don’t need to finish the entire game. Fromsoft has a habit of adding the DLC access point at random points during the main story and this is no different with Elden Ring.
