AWARD-WINNING singer, Mlindo The Vocalist, is embracing the joys of fatherhood.

The AmaBlesser singer, whose real name is Lindokuhle Mgedeza, shared with Daily Sun that his daughter, now two weeks old, has brought new focus to his life.

“It’s exciting, but right now my life is focused on being a dad. She’s always crying but I’m getting used to it. I’m loving the whole journey and learning how to change nappies. Also shushing her when she’s crying.

“I’m learning to do all these things by myself without getting help from her mum. It’s an enjoyable experience. I want to make sure I do this right,” he said.

Mlindo is also preparing for a concert titled Mlindo The Vocalist Live Experience, scheduled for Saturday, 15 June at Carnival City, Ekurhuleni.

“I wanted to do something inspiring for the youth, especially the ones in entertainment. We shouldn’t wait to be called to events, as artists we can come together, be united and do this thing without waiting for promoters. If we stand up for ourselves, we can do this thing by ourselves and host events.”

The event, a dream since his music career began in 2018, was delayed by the pandemic but is now set to proceed.

“Covid-19 made it impossible, but I’ve been dreaming of doing it for long. I’ll be performing with a live band. This will be a chance to showcase my talent and people haven’t seen me perform with a live band and they’ll enjoy it,” Mlindo said.

The singer said he’ll be opening spaces for up-and-coming musicians.

“I asked people on the line-up to come with people they’re grooming. There’s a group I used to perform with called White Bread. I’m bringing them to the show. There’s also another local artist I’ll be sharing the stage with.

“Blaq Diamond is bringing two new faces. Big Zulu will also be bringing his own people from the Nkabi Nation. My performance is a surprise, I don’t want to disclose much about it yet. But it’ll be a great performance,” he said.
