Multiplatinum selling Afropop superstar Mlindo The Vocalist has joined forces with hitmaker DJ Maphorisa to deliver a soul-stirring prayer in musical form. ‘Umdali’ not only marks a significant musical moment but also a deep spiritual connection.

In ‘Umdali’, Mlindo The Vocalist expresses a heartfelt plea that has resonated within him for years. He shares, “It’s a prayer that I have been saying for years. In the song, I am asking the Lord to be with us, protect us from all the bad things that could happen to us while we’re on the road on our way to and from shows. It is also a prayer for the Lord to protect our families when we’re away.”

Teaming up with afrosoul rising star Phila Dlozi and emerging amapiano vocalist Tman Xpress, Mlindo The Vocalist has handpicked an all-star lineup of voices that amplify the song’s spiritual essence. Explaining his choice of collaborators, Mlindo shares, “I relate with Phila Dlozi when it comes to the world of spirituality; he was the perfect person to execute the idea and bring the song to life. TMan Xpress is someone I have always wanted to work with, and the timing was perfect. His contribution added a groovy element that we realized was missing and he complemented the song.”

With Umdali, Mlindo The Vocalist aims to pass on a profound sense of spirituality and healing. “I wish that everyone who listens to the song is touched by the spirituality it carries. I wish healing for everyone and hope that they can join us in this prayer,” he expresses.

Umdali is set to be released on the 28th of June 24 and will be available for streaming on all DSPs.
