Musician Lehlogonolono “Shebeshxt” Chauke underwent multiple surgeries this week and has started communicating again.
Lot Ramusi, a spokesperson for the rapper’s family, revealed this to the Sunday World on Thursday.
“We just keep on praying. He is coming, alright. He is going through different operations. At least he has started talking again. He started talking properly again on Monday,” Ramusi said.
Fatal car crash
Shebeshxt survived a fatal car accident in Limpopo on Saturday night, which claimed the life of Onthatile, his nine-year-old daughter.
It has been reported that the rapper’s Volkswagen Polo overturned after colliding with the truck.
According to Shebeshxt’s mother, Mpho Chauke, Shebeshxt was travelling from Polokwane to Lebowakgomo to drop off Onthatile and the child’s mother at her home.
Upon dropping them off, the rapper would have gone to perform at an ANC Siyanqoba rally in Lebowakgomo on Sunday.
Ramusi said the family has not yet decided if there will be a public burial for Onthatile.
Burial date yet to be confirmed
“The family is aware that the country has been supporting them and that the people want to come to the funeral, but this will be determined by the family.
“We will confirm what they say later,” he said.
He said the burial date has not been confirmed because the family is waiting to hear from the rapper’s doctors on whether he would be able to attend.
“We are waiting to hear from the doctors. We will update as soon as we have information,” he said.
In an exclusive interview with Sunday World on Monday, Shebeshxt’s mother revealed that her son suffered a broken leg, abdominal injuries, and head injuries.
She said that she was not looking forward to informing him that his daughter had passed away, but quickly learned that Shebeshxt was already aware.
