CONTROVERSIAL Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt is recovering in hospital after he survived a deadly accident that claimed his daughter’s life on Saturday night, 8 June.

The artist was involved in a devastating car accident while on his way to Lebowakgomo to drop off his daughter so he could go to a gig.

He was travelling with his daughter and his baby mama.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Shebeshxt’s mother, Mpho Chauke, said this is a difficult time for the family.

“We are trying to be peaceful so that we can manage everything,” said Mpho.

She revealed to Daily Sun that the rapper has internal bleeding.

“He’s recovering, but he is in pain because of the foot and the abdominal bleeding. I think the operation is taking so long because they want to see what is happening,” she said.

Mpho told Daily Sun that his lungs have also been affected, and the collarbone is sticking out.

However, she said her son is now stable.

“We were afraid to tell him about his daughter’s passing. Surprisingly, he was aware. I spent the night in the hospital with him, and he asked me to hold him and not to leave him. He said that he was unable to close his eyes. He was communicating well with me. I’m glad he has a strong faith in God and believes he will pass through this,” she said.

Speaking fondly of her granddaughter, Mpho recalled how she named the grandchild immediately after birth.

“I named her Onthatile, meaning God loves me. She was an apple of my eye. We used to share everything. She was so intelligent, always active and a lovely person. I’m shattered,” she said.

The Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) extended their heartfelt condolences to the artist following the incident.

LAM chairman Mphoza Mashabela told Daily Sun their thoughts and prayers are with Shebeshxt and his family during this difficult time.

“We cannot imagine the pain and grief they must be experiencing, but we want them to know that they’re not alone. The entire artistic community stands in solidarity with them, offering comfort and support,” he said.

Mphoza said that Shebeshxt is a valued member of their creative fraternity.

“We have witnessed his dedication to his craft and passion for inspiring others through his work. We hope that our collective support will provide some solace during this trying period,” he said.
