In an interview with Collider, Holland said he is having conversations about a potential Spider-Man 4 movie. Since the SAG-AFTRA strike ended this fall, countless movies and TV shows have been able to return to development or production.
One of them is Spider-Man 4, the film that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are eyeing to complete the trilogy series for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man character.
Ever since the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home established a new era for the Multiverse, MCU audiences have been trying to predict the story that Spider-Man 4 will tell. Tom Holland has been open about his and the studios’ current situation with Spider-Man 4, though he hasn’t given an update on when the film might be released to the public.
Holland made it clear that he, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are “actively engaged in discussions” about the next Spider-Man movie. “All I can say is that we have been actively engaged in discussions about what Spider-Man 4 might look like. Whether or not we can find a way to get justice for the character is another matter. Even so, I’m still very proud to play Peter Parker. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work together on a hit IP like Spider-Man. So I’m not going to do another Spider-Man movie just to create another version.”
Even though the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes have ended, they still caused significant delays and date disturbances for Marvel Studios, especially as in 2024 it will only have an MCU movie in theaters. With that in mind, one wonders when Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios actually plan to release Spider-Man 4.
With the creative team still trying to find the origin of Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man’s web-shooting ability, it would be understandable if the upcoming MCU Phase 6 would lack the character Spider-Man.
Of course, it may be a while before we get official confirmation of a fourth Spider-Man movie, as Marvel has two more TV series and theatrical projects not to mention yet to come. announced will be available earlier.
