Marvel Cinematic Universe star Elizabeth Olsen has been announced for a new romantic comedy from A24.
As reported by Deadline, Olsen will lead Eternity alongside Top Gun: Maverick‘s Miles Teller and The Boys in the Boat‘s Callum Turner.
Although the plot for the film, which has been circulating for a few years, is being closely guarded, it looks like it might be quite high-concept, with the premise that everyone has to decide who they want to spend eternity with.
Last year, Olsen, who recently starred in Love & Death, explained that if she never returns to the role of Wanda Maximoff, who she first played in a post-credit sequence in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, she would be OK to move on.
“It’s been almost 10 years of playing her,” she said. “And I’ve loved it. And I think the reason I am not calling Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do. I think WandaVision was a really surprising opportunity.
“If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made… And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all.”
Meanwhile, a third Top Gun film was confirmed to be in development following the huge success of Maverick.
Teller is reported to be involved, although he hasn’t confirmed he’s coming back, but co-star Glenn Powell has.
“I talk to [Joseph] Kosinski, [Tom] Cruise and Jerry [Bruckheimer] all the time. There is stuff happening, and it sounds very exciting,” he said.
“I don’t know when I’ll be going back… I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future.”
